Joanie is a creative. These creative juices have given her a voice and a platform to tell her story through visual art. She has used visual art and writing as tools to work through adversity and trauma as a child. Quite often the only way that she had any control over her circumstances was to imagine a world where she was happy and free to be herself, a world where she could be seen and be heard! Presently, Joanie teaches children, youth and families to find their words and tell their story real or imagined, using visual art. Joanie develops and delivers creative programs that ignite public spaces with stories of BIPOC(Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) using art, because she strongly believes that representation is key to inspiring and empowering our young people! Seeing ourselves in any space is integral to embracing who we are and stepping out into a world that includes US! Joanie's arts practice continues to unfold coming from a real place of peace and happiness. Joanie continues to use art to help her to heal and find herself and she wishes to leave her legacy through the pieces that have transformed her.
Please join Joanie on this journey of self discovery and empowerment through ART~
